Ri A Wina Association Programs 2011-2015

A. Education Support (After School Support)

Ri A Wina shares a strong belief that education is the key to success. Ri A Wina aims at providing informal classes in their specialized subjects such as Mathematics, Science and Technology etc.
We are to assist also in other subjects that could be posing a challenge in their studies.Programs that address career guidance offered by qualified professionals in different sectors will be implemented.

Purpose
Provide after classes assistance
Teach and assist vulnerable in understanding the subjects that are school difficult for their understanding.

Objectives
We want to improve their school performances in our orphanages home

How will the program work
This program will be currently executed only during weekends and during school holidays by young professional

B. Motivation a child

The program is aimed at sharing the light of possibility among the disadvantaged by interactive active motivation session. Bridge the gap between the successful and less privilege by bringing complete exposure into the life of the vulnerable. This is where we invite and involve celebrities so that they can spend time with them e.g. Miss SA etc

Purpose
To give a complete motivation to the vulnerable.

Objectives
Ri A Wina wants to instill the positive attitude among the vulnerable

C. Nelson Mandela Day

Over the years Ri A Wina Association spent Mandela Day at the Orphanages. With intentions to assist homes with their daily chores. We play with them, Share a cake in celebration of Nelson Mandela life and deeds. This session always end up as an inspirational session for all. We are mostly joined by well known personalities.

Purpose
Heeding Nelson Mandela call on spending 67 Min effectively

Objectives
Reach out and be hands on
Cleaning and contributing in their daily chores.
Fundraising and Awareness Campaigns

D. Walk 4 Change

Walk 4 Change is an event that was started in 2009 and initially involved one man walking to raise awareness and funds for orphans. However, the need aroused to raise funds and awareness by involving South African communities in the walk and one such was held during the “16 Days of Activism” (an act against children and women abuse) period which is from the 25th November to the 10th December.

The tradition for Walk 4 Change has been to use the first Saturday of the 16 Days of Activism period to raise awareness on the violence against children and women abuse, as some children are orphaned as result of such abuse, and also to raise funds that will help children in the orphanage homes. 

E. Sports Development

This program is meant to develop sports at a school level, through organising of Tournament.

Objectives
Promote Healthy Living and advancing the sporting codes at a disadvantaged schools.

F. CHILD MINDER PROGRAM (How to Raise & Take Care Orphans/Vulnerable)

This is meant share the skills with the child minder on how vulnerable children should be raised. This is to teach the mothers at the orphanages and shelters the strategy that the child minders and mothers at the orphanages homes should apply in raising disadvantage children.

Purpose
To teach Child minder, Mothers and those who aspire to be parents figure for the vulnerable a way of raising children.

How will the program work
The specialist will be invited to educate the child minder, the certificate of attendance will be handed there off.

H. STREET CHILDREN SUPPORT (SCS)

This program aimed at ultimately eradicating the street children who are living in the street (homeless) around the City of Tshwane by equipping them with knowledge and relevant skills required for their development.

Purpose
Make them understand that there are the most valuable member of the community
Establish and find a better way to eradicate the number of homeless street children

Objectives
Train and expose them to working environment.
Teach them life skills and priority in life.
Engage in discussion understanding their needs.

How will the program work
Gathering the street children at the hall and be given lectures and exercises on a during the week.

I. ONE BUSINESS ADOPT 1 ORPHANAGE

This is where we encourage the business to adopt the orphanage/shelter homes of their choice. The businesses are expected to assist the Orphanages/Shelters with assistance that beyond what Social Development is offering.

Purpose
To have a many businesses adopting the orphanages

Objectives
To have Orphanages supported by a business atleast.

How will the program work
Encourage business more business to be on board

International Children’s Day

The international Children’s day is celebrated internationally on different days. In South Africa, this day is celebrated on the 20th November; Ri A Wina will spend this day with children. On this day, children participate in discussions about their future aspirations and knowing their rights and responsibilities. People will be invited to make speeches on children's rights and well being. Children TV programs will also be given the opportunity to participate and interact with children. Parties, various actions involving or dedicated to children also feature prominently on this day.
